Jason Karpinski was arrested March 18, 2021, in a sexual assault investigation, Anchorage police said. (Anchorage Police Department photo) State prosecutors said in a statement that Jason Karpinski, 36, used social media to contact hundreds of women and that the charges stem from “in-home and in-office massages” he offered “under the guise of his business.” Karpinski was indicted on two counts of first-degree sexual assault and eight counts of second-degree sexual assault, with sentences of up to 99 years for each charge if he is convicted, according to the Alaska Department of Law. ....

Randall Igou, who was charged in 65-year-old Gregory Gill’s death, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in November. Surveillance footage showed Igou entering Aurora Paint Co. early the morning of Sept. 10, 2017; within two minutes, Gill had been fatally shot and the footage showed Igou walking out of the business with a cash box and Gill’s car keys, according to charging documents filed in the case. He drove away in Gill’s car and was arrested the next day after running into Cheney Lake while being pursued by officers. ....

So far, that hasn’t happened. Only a single lawsuit has been filed in state court to block implementation of the state’s new election system, approved as Ballot Measure 2, and no challenges have been filed in federal court.
