UP: Yogi Govt To Operate 700 Electric Buses In 14 Cities Including Gorakhpur And Ghaziabad This Year

The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to operate 700 electric buses in 14 major cities of the state in order to bring down pollution levels.
According to the government spokesman, work is being done at a rapid pace on the project.
Earlier, the electric buses were plying on roads across seven cities but now the government intends to provide this service to seven more cities.
The spokesman said that more buses will be added to the fleet in the coming days and the routes will be upgraded to make buses run faster. ....

KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 Former Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) senior deputy director Sabudin Mohd Salleh was freed by the Sessions Court here today on a charge with accepting bribes, amounting to RM150,000, without calling for his defence.

Gender inequality makes its mark early on in life in Pakistan.
We girls wore different clothes to the boys, I was sent to a girls’ school while my brother was sent to a boys’ schools. Although I did not like it, I was told this is the way the world was, and girls and boys have to go to separate institutions.
When I was a young woman commuting for work on public transport, I faced daily sexual harassment.
At the start of my career, in the 1980s, I worked in women’s rights organisations. I joined Women’s Action Forum – an independent forum fighting for women’s rights that started during Zia-ul-Haq’s regime to fight against the repressive laws against women; I also volunteered with War Against Rape in Lahore in 1992 as well as the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. Pothole-free roads can save lives

ACCIDENTS and deaths caused by vehicles going over potholes are not something new in this country.
Such cases have been highlighted repeatedly over the years, but the public’s many complaints always seem to fall on deaf ears, with repairs taking weeks, even months if not years, in some cases.
It took just one VIP falling at an uneven road to not only get an effusive apology from the district’s Public Works Department (JKR) but also a pledge to fix the pothole, which was duly done in record time.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin sustained facial injuries when he fell off his bicycle after riding over a depression in a road in Banting, Selangor, on Dec 27. When the Kuala Langat district JKR apologised and repaired the road in less than 24 hours following his tweet, Malaysians took to social media to sarcastically call for ministers to cycle in their districts so that their roads could be repaired as efficiently too. ....
