CarExpert backs Google and Facebook as smaller publishers continue to fear code's impact

The co-founders of CarExpert – who also founded CarAdvice, before it was bought by Nine and retired as a brand late last year – have waded into the contentious News Media Bargaining Code debate, throwing its support behind both Google and Facebook.
CarAdvice owed much of its early success to Google, according to co-founders Alborz Fallah and Paul Maric, and CarExpert is now in a similar position. Both of the big platforms are welcome to access CarExpert content for free, they stated, because it benefits them too.

ABC closes out 2020 on top of Digital Content Ratings, cementing a year of dominance

ABC News once again led the pack in Nielsen’s December Digital Content Ratings, ending 2020 with a unique audience of 11.4 million, despite a 6.9% month-on-month drop.
The public broadcaster – which first surged to the top in January 2020 and remained there for the entire year due to readers’ reliance on its bushfire and COVID-19 coverage – also easily led in average time spent on the site (almost 43 minutes) and sessions per person (11.6).
Nine.com.au continued its ascension up the ratings, overtaking news.com.au to land in second place for the month of December.
According to the Nielsen data, released today, nine.com.au grew 0.9% month-on-month for a unique audience of 10.6 million, enough to knock news.com.au out of second spot given the latter’s 5.7% decline and unique audience of 10.4 million. ....

When she began writing her autobiography, Mary Li gave what she had written to her daughter Sophie to read. “I wrote the first bits and pieces and she typed it all up for me,” Mary recalls. “She was laughing hysterically about things from my childhood in Rockhampton and I’d be saying … that’s all true! That’s what really happened! She thought it was hilarious and when I heard that laughter I thought – I’ll write more of that.”
Mary, wife of Queensland Ballet artistic director and best-selling author Li Cunxin, had her own story to tell. That book, Mary’s Last Dance, is out on Tuesday and will be launched by Queensland Governor, the Honourable Paul de Jersey, at a function at Government House in Brisbane followed by a major event at Brisbane Powerhouse the following week. ....
