Somesh Kumar, the Chief Secretary, has directed the GHMC s Zonal Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to open outpatient clinics at every government hospital, urban health centre, and Basthi Dawakhanas within the GHMC s jurisdiction to treat people with Covid-19 symptoms who are being treated at home. Adding, he said that each patient should be handed over a home treatment kit.
Somesh Kumar on a teleconference from BRKR Bhavan instructed the officials to form teams consisting of municipal staff, an ANM, and at least two ASHA on Sunday. The teams should visit every household in the respective area and hand over kits with medicines and advise the symptomatic persons. ....

‘This can be done by increasing the number of beds at the hospitals of PSUs’
The CPI(M) has appealed to District Collector V. Vinay Chand to increase the amenities for COVID-19 patients in view of the rapid increase in the number of positive cases in the district.
In a memorandum submitted to the Collector on Monday, party State secretariat member Ch. Narasinga Rao and city secretary B. Ganga Rao said that the number of oxygen beds should be increased by at least three times in view of the exponential rise in cases. They suggested that this can be done by increasing the beds at the hospitals of public sector units like Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), Visakhapatnam Port, Hindustan Shipyard Limited and BHEL. The allocation of beds in the CSR Block of KGH should be regulated. ....

District Collector Vivek Yadav on Monday asked the Sub-Collectors, revenue divisional officers, municipal commissioners and Tahsildars to ensure that all precautions were taken to contain the infection.
Reviewing the preparedness to tackle the second wave of the pandemic at a video conference, the Collector said that all frontline workers, including personnel from the departments of Police, Revenue, Panchayat Raj, Secretariat, should get themselves vaccinated. So far, 35,962 frontline workers have been administered vaccine.
The details of vaccination programme on Monday have been sent to various Urban Health Centres and those who do not wish to go for vaccination should provide a medical certificate and a letter by the concerned head of department, he said. ....
