Rawalpindi : The high prices of eatables coupled with skyrocketing transport fares dampened the spirits of holidaymakers during Eidul Azha in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The taxicabs, rickshaws, and other private services in the guise of POL prices looted the public with both hands. Even the seasonal butchers were demanding a high amount for slaughtering animals. For a normal bull butchers were demanding Rs15,000 and Rs5,000 for a normal goat. In case the animals were much bigger in size, the butchers’ charges were higher as well.
The day dawned with special prayers for peace, progress, and prosperity of the country at mosques. Big Eid congregations were held here at Jamia Masjid Road, Chungi No22, Eidgah Sharif, Makki Masjid Saddar, Adiala Road, Dhamyal, Liaquat Bagh, Sadiqabad, and Devi Datta Masjid near Shamsabad. Rawalpindi: City Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Mazhar Iqbal on Friday distributed awareness pamphlets and back view mirrors among motorcyclists under an ongoing awareness campaign launched by Education Wing of CTP.
On the occasion, the CTO said that one glance can save a two wheelers life as most of the road accidents and deaths of the bikers reported due to non-usage of back view mirrors.
Side-view mirrors are an important road safety aid, he said, the CTP have taken a new initiative to make roads safer for two-wheeler riders.
He said, the CTP were making efforts to spread awareness about the rear view mirror which must be used by the two-wheeler riders, as these mirrors are the rear eye of the drivers during heavy flow of traffic on roads. ....

PESHAWAR: City Traffic Officer (CTO) Abbas Majeed Marwat Saturday urged the people to follow traffic laws otherwise driving license would be canceled for those who frequently violated the rules.
He expressed these views while talking to media here at G. T. Road while supervising the ongoing crackdown on bike riders avoiding use of helmets in different sectors of the city. CTO said that those violators of traffic laws were being registered in e-challan system. ....
