The multiple Grammy Award winner recently released âSmoke in a Bar,â a new single. It is a follow-up to his first single in over a decade, âGhost Town Nation.â Both singles are from his soon-to-be released album, âSet in Stone.â Released May 7, the album is produced by Dave Cobb.

It’s been 13 years or so since Travis Tritt released a studio album, and country fans will find this one worth the wait.
Tritt made new LP “Set in Stone” with Nashville producer of the moment Dave Cobb, known for helming notable Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Brandi Carlile and Jason Isbell discs.
It’s an inspired pairing. Tritt’s empathetic Southern vocals sound right at home amid Cobb’s naturalistic production. Musical arrangements walk the border between outlaw-country and truck-rock.
The tunes are there too. Tritt cowrote eight of the album’s 11 songs. Key writing collaborators include rising country talents Brent Cobb and Ashley Monroe. Tracks like the single “Smoke in a Bar” point back to the storytelling in now-vintage ’90s country, an era of which Tritt is a cornerstone. The studio version of “Smoke in a Bar,” which was written by Jeremy Bussey, Derek George and Tim Montana, will be released next Friday, March 5.
While he was in the Opry circle, Travis also performed some of his greatest hits, some of the songs that give me that 90’s country nostalgia like “I’m Gonna Be Somebody” and “It’s a Great Day to be Alive.” And Chris Janson also joined him for a rockin’ version of Waylon Jennings’ “Are You Sure Hank Done it This Way.”
From the first two songs, it seems like Travis hasn’t missed a beat with the sound of his music on this latest album – so now I’m just counting down the days until May 7 when we get that full album from Travis Tritt.
