Watertown City Council considers food truck events at Thompson Park

WATERTOWN â City Councilwoman Sarah V. Compo sees how popular Food Truck Fridays are in Lowville, and she thinks they also could be a hit in Thompson Park.
Recently, she talked to Kylie S. Peck, chief executive officer of the Greater Watertown-North Country Chamber of Commerce, and Michelle L. Capone, director of regional development for the Development Authority of New York, about starting up some kind of food truck events at the city-owned park this summer.
The councilwoman brought up the subject at Monday nightâs City Council meeting to get input from her colleagues on council about the idea. She suggested it could start as a pilot program to see how it would be received by park-goers. ....

EASTPOINTE Eastpointe will once again be offering residents the chance to turn one person’s trash into another person’s treasure with a community yard sale during a weekend in August.
The Eastpointe City Council approved a motion at its meeting April 6 to allow any Eastpointe resident to host a yard or garage sale without having to register with the city or pay a fee.
“The idea is that residents can have a yard sale that weekend without needing a permit,” explained City Councilwoman Sarah Lucido. “It’s usually a $5 fee, but that will be waived. It’s trying to encourage people to come to Eastpointe and see our city.” ....
