Valenzuela City’s microchipping and anti-rabies vaccination programs for pets will be temporarily suspended to prevent risk of further transmission of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the city.
In a Facebook post, the local government said that it will be launching an online appointment scheme in the coming weeks through its ValPets website.

Under the ValPets program, Valenzuela residents can have their pets microchipped and give them a permanent ID. The registration to avail of the free microchip implants will start on March 13.
The microchip implants use RFID (radio frequency identification) technology, the city government added.
“In the event that their pets go missing, personnel from the City Veterinary Services Office will only have to scan the microchip implant to identify the owner, as well as other details about the dog,” the local government explained in a YouTube video.
“The details of the missing dogs will then be posted on valpets.appcase.net website, where pet owners can visit if their pets go missing,” it added.

Aguilar told the CVSO and the City Agriculture Office (CAO) to conduct surprise inspections and monitoring to determine whether the order was being followed by vendors in public markets, including groceries and supermarkets.
She said a team of CVSO and CSO personnel will be going around the city to ensure compliance with the price cap on basic commodities.
On Monday, February 8, CVSO meat inspector Jerome Maapoy and Marivic Bosque from CAO went to Zapote Public Market and Annex Talipapa.
The mayor warned vendors as well as establishments selling pork and chicken found to be violating the price ceiling that will be slapped with show cause order or suspension of their permits.
