+ April 20, 2021 CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno confirmed on Tuesday, April 19, that the African Swine Fever (ASF) has entered the premises of the City slaughterhouse. Verified na nga nasudlan sa ASF mao nang nag undergo og disinfection and sunod naay stoppage of operations for a few days, Moreno said.
The City Veterinary Office last week issued an advisory stating that the operations of the City slaughterhouse has been suspended for disinfection as recommended by the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and the National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS).
The advisory further stated the slaughterhouse, after disinfection, will remain closed until further notice or recommendation from the BAI for the resumption of operations.

March 10, 2021 BARANGAY Banago in Bacolod City was chosen by the Bacolod City Animal Welfare Task Force (Bacaw-TF) as the pilot barangay in the city for the information and education campaign for the welfare of animals.
This was stressed by Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda, a member of the task force, on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, after Mayor Evelio Leonardia issued Executive Order (EO) No. 13 creating the Bacaw-TF.
Pineda said on Tuesday that they already started the campaign and education in Barangay Banago.
“Barangay Banago was chosen as the pilot barangay for the implementation of this program to educate animal owners to be responsible and to address the stray dogs problem in the city,” he said.
