SFFR conducting joint search and rescue exercises with area agencies By Todd Epp May 24, 2021 | 12:29 PM SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) Tuesday, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue will be conducting a joint operations search and rescue training in cooperation with the Sioux Falls Police Department, South Dakota Task Force 1, Iowa Task Force 1, members of the City of Sioux Falls Public Works team, and the Rapid City Fire Department. The search and rescue training will be a two-part exercise; the first exercise consisting of emergency response to a submerged vehicle within the river, and the second exercise consisting of nighttime search and rescue operations on the river with the use of night vision technology to evaluate different night vision options for emergency response. ....

As the march weaved through the central part of the city, some protesters broke off and headed toward the Empire Mall. Some in the remaining group threw rocks at police. Windows in area businesses at the Mall were smashed. A couple of those rocks whizzed by the head of police Lt. Jon Thum, who was among the many officers who responded to the scene. Earlier in the night, Vaney Hariri, a Downtown Rotary member and co-owner of Think3D Solutions, participated in the peaceful protest and gave a speech. ....
Sioux Falls Wants Your Input on Veterans Parkway Project The city of Sioux Falls wants to hear your input regarding the next phase of construction planned for the Veterans Parkway project that will span an area of roadway from I‑29 to 57th Street in the southern part of the city. As Dakota News Now reports, a combination fact-finding, feedback mission is now underway by officials with the South Dakota Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, and the City of Sioux Falls. Officials have launched a virtual public meeting now through (May 29) on a website dedicated to the project. People having interest in the project will be able to offer up feedback after watching video messages created by the project team. ....

(KELO.com) The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), Federal Highway Administration, and the City of Sioux Falls have launched a virtual meeting to collect public input about the planning and construction of South Veterans Parkway from I‑29 to 57th Street. The virtual public meeting is hosted on the project website through May 29, 2021. Watch video messages from the project team, view the 2012 Environmental Assessment, and comment on any environmental or regulation changes that may have occurred since its development.
