WXXV News 25 July 8, 2021 Source: City of Gulfport On June 21, 2021, the American Public Works Association (APWA) officially granted the City of Gulfport Public Works Department accreditation status for the 2nd consecutive time. This process includes the completion of a Department Wide Self-Assessment (385 practices), application for Accreditation, a Site Review, and a vote by the APWA Accreditation Council. The APWA is the only International Accreditation Agency for Public Works Departments of cities, counties, and towns. There are currently 171 accredited public works agencies in North America. The Gulfport Public Works Department was the 118th agency in North America to be awarded APWA Accreditation back in 2016, and is the sole accredited public works agency in Mississippi. ....
WXXV News 25 June 30, 2021 Memorial Hospital in Gulfport welcomes their first class of family medicine program residents. It takes courage to become a resident, it takes even more courage to be a resident at a place that has never had residents before. Memorial Hospital hosted a white coat ceremony for incoming first year and first class of residents. The residents are filling health care gaps for the City of Gulfport by bringing their passion and desire to care for underprivileged communities. Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residents Nazli Goktepe said, “We’re both excited to get to know our community better, get to know the community population at large, and just to see what areas are under-served and what needs to be done to make Gulfport healthier and better community by optimizing their wellbeing and by coming together and integrating medicine as part of their lives.” ....
