The bookshop and gift store, called Family Central, will open at 215 Central Ave. in September. The building is owner by Lumir LLC, the Prince family s real estate operation in Holland. It was previously a temporary home for Holland Clock Co. Before that, it housed West Michigan Bike and Fitness.
“Focus on the Family is excited to open our newest retail store, Family Central, in Holland this fall, said President and CEO Jim Daly. This is the first time we’ve expanded our retail services outside of our headquarters in Colorado Springs. ....

Local writer, photographer remembered as calm and steady voice
HOLLAND Michael Lozon, a beloved local writer and photographer, died Friday, July 2, at the age of 72 after a five-month battle with cancer.
Lozon was born in 1948 in Grand Haven, but spent most of his childhood in Alpena. After moving to West Michigan, he earned a bachelor s degree in photojournalism from Central Michigan University and began his career as a writer.
Lozon was the business editor at The Sentinel from 1987-1990. He also worked as a business writer at The Grand Rapids Press, a freelance writer and editor for Holland Hospital and a group facilitator at Herrick District Library. ....
