LOCK HAVEN Susquehanna Greenway River Towns across the region were alive with volunteers last week in celebration of Earth Day and the inaugural 2021 Susquehanna Greenway River Towns Cleanup. Over the course of the week of April 18 25, 2021, six river towns organized events that attracted hundreds of volunteers and collectively removed thousands of pounds of trash from area parks, trails, and communities along the Susquehanna River. ....
LOCK HAVEN Flags of Honor will return to Triangle Park for the Memorial Day weekend. Last year there was no display in the park because of COVID-19 precautions. But this year, full-size U.S. flags on 10-foot poles will again fill the park with red, white and blue. The dramatic display of flags will start the evening of Friday, May 28, and the flags will fly all weekend, until the evening of Tuesday, June 1. Everyone interested may sponsor a flag in honor or in memory of a special someone. Veterans and soldiers can be saluted with a flag. So can a favorite teacher, friend, co-worker, relative, anyone who would appreciate the gesture. ....
Apr 23, 2021 If you’re driving around Lock Haven on Friday you should see an army of people cleaning up the streets and sidewalks. We see that happen in various communities in our region where residents take their stewardship seriously. This particular cleanup on a weekend is in recognition of Earth Day, which is being celebrated pretty much all this week. We know other communities are conducting clean ups. Way to go! And this particular effort is quite something. More than 50 volunteers have signed up to help Downtown Lock Haven Inc. and the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership celebrate a clean up our environment by working together to pick up litter and debris. ....
