Canadian Officials Voice Support in Celebration of Falun Dafa Day
Over 120 Canadian officials from across the country sent anniversary greetings in support of Falun Dafa on May 13, commending the faith group’s peaceful resistance against persecution in communist China since 1999, as adherents held an online event to celebrate 29 years since Falun Dafa’s introduction to the public.
Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a traditional Chinese self-improvement discipline that consists of five meditative exercises along with moral teachings centred on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. Canadian Lawmakers Speak in Remembrance of Largest-Ever Peaceful Protest in China
Canadian legislators have voiced support of the faith group Falun Gong ahead of the anniversary of their peaceful protest in Beijing 22 years ago, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched a brutal persecution campaign against its adherents.
“I dream of a day when human rights advocates are no longer considered to be enemies of the Chinese state; of a day when Chinese television no longer broadcast confessions obtained through blackmail and torture; a day when political prisoners are no longer subject to organ harvesting,” Conservative MP Peter Kent said in a statement. ....

Senate Committee Approves Bill Combating Organ Trafficking

Senate Committee Approves Bill Combating Organ Trafficking
The Senate committee on human rights has unanimously endorsed proposed legislation to combat international human organ trafficking.
The Senate Bill S-204, sponsored by Sen. Salma Ataullahjan, makes it illegal for Canadians to get organs abroad without the consent of the donor, and makes people involved in forced organ harvesting inadmissible to Canada.
Ataullahjan had introduced a similar bill in the last session of Parliament, which received unanimous approval from both the Senate and the House of Commons. However, it didn’t become law as Parliament was dissolved for the 2019 election before the latest round of amendments introduced by MPs could be approved by the Senate. ....

Canadian Lawmakers Condemn Attack on Hong Kong Epoch Times Printing Press
Several Canadian lawmakers have condemned the assault on the Hong Kong Epoch Times printing facility, calling on the Chinese regime to respect freedom of the press.
Four masked men barged into the Epoch Times printing facility in Hong Kong on April 12, smashing equipment with sledgehammers and dumping construction debris onto machines. The attack caused the facility to temporarily suspend operations.
“I was shocked to learn that there was such a blatant attack. This is a direct violation of international norms of protecting freedom of the press, freedom of speech,” said MP James Bezan, the Conservative Party’s shadow minister for national defence. ....
