(WALB) - Throughout the pandemic, Dougherty County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has not slowed down. Dougherty County EMS Director Sam Allen said this pandemic is nothing like he’s ever seen before. He told WALB News 10 what it’s been like for them over the past year. Allen said even though it’s been a tragic year, his team is closer. “The staff has joined together. They’re much tighter, they’re looking out for each other and it has been a bonding event,” said Allen.

Especially after it was announced that Albany Mayor Bo Dorough is in quarantine after a COVID-19 exposure. “It appears as we continue to move forward with COVID-19 that either we know someone that has been affected by COVID-19 in some way, or lost someone that we know due to COVID-19. COVID-19 is present in our community and continues to be a concern,” said Cedric Scott, Albany Fire Department fire chief.
