Man accused of arson in Veach Street fire


Police arrested a man who is accused of setting his rental house on fire last month. 
Donnie Allen Harmon, 33, was arrested Thursday in connection to a house fire on April 11 on Veach Street Court in Thomasville. 
Harmon is being charged with felony burning of personal property, felony cruelty to animals, first-degree arson, two counts of felony insurance fraud and fraudulently burning of a dwelling.
The house was fully engulfed in flames by the time the fire department arrived on-scene, according to a news release from the Thomasville Police Department. The house was completely destroyed by the fire.

THOMASVILLE, N.C. A Thomasville man is facing arson, animal cruelty, insurance fraud among other charges following a house fire.
The Thomasville Police Department said
 Donnie Allen Harmon, 33, was arrested in connection with a house fire on April 11. The Thomasville Fire Department said the house on Veach Court was fully engulfed in flames and was completely destroyed by the fire. The family wasn’t at home during the fire, but the dog died as a result. Fire crews said a neighbor’s house also sustained fire damage. ....

Suspect charged with attempted murder after Thomasville officer injured

Police said a suspect intentionally drove his motorcycle at officers during a pursuit that injured a Thomasville police officer Thursday. 
On Thursday, March 4 at 1:39 p.m, the Thomasville Police Department was notified that Rowan County law enforcement needed assistance in the pursuit of a motorcycle. The motorcycle, driven by Brian Alexander Bacelli, 28, of Jamestown, had no license plate and was traveling northbound on Interstate 85, according to a news release. 
Thomasville police said they set up a mobile roadblock near Kanoy Road, which would have allowed for the motorcycle to safely stop. When Bacelli reached the roadblock, he accelerated rapidly and deliberately struck an officer who had exited his vehicle to take Bacelli into custody, according to the release. Police said as a result of the impact, the officer, Detective Sergeant Joseph Driggers, was knocked back 10-15 feet.  ....

Omatie Jurakan, an employee with Facility Logistic Services, was one of 10 finalists for the United Way of Davidson County’s cash giveaway. On Dec. 15, she was drawn as the winner of the $10,000 cash giveaway.
