In the Wings: Donna Storms, a great loss for Connecticut theater

The Connecticut community theater family lost a beloved member when Donna Storms died on July 9 due to the devastating effects of COVID-19.

Donna was a wonderful comedic actress, a talented director and a longtime volunteer.
Donna was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and she grew up in the town of Tonawanda. She attended college at State University of New York at Geneseo and earned a degree in speech and hearing therapy. ....

THOMASTON – Landmark Community Theatre is presenting its first musical of 2021, “The Sound of Music,” since their doors were shuttered at the Thomaston Opera House due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Sound of Music” continues through Aug. 1.
The beloved musical that was suggested by “The Trapp Family Singers” by Maria Augusta Trapp features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The stage book, written by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, differs slightly from the movie version. The stage version contains songs omitted from the film, and has musical numbers performed in completely different scenes. ....
