ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia Tech track & field concluded its 2021 outdoor regular season at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial Meet hosted by the University of Georgia at Spec Towns Track in Athens on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets laced it up against host UGA, Clemson, Columbia International University, Connecticut, Emory, Georgia State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
“We had a good weekend at UGA,” said head women’s track & field coach Alan Drosky. “The highlight was Bria breaking her own school record in the long jump yesterday. Then today she gets a seasonal best in the triple jump. Taylor jumped an outdoor personal best yesterday in the long jump and Reese had a nice personal best in the hurdles. The weekend ended well with a seasonal best in the 1600m relay. Being right in the middle of exams, we were a little flat in some areas.”
THE FLATS – Yellow Jacket track & field closed out its last home meet of the 2021 outdoor season at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Saturday at Griffin Track. The Jackets lined up against Alabama-Huntsville (M/W), Augusta (M/W), Boston College (M), Charleston Southern (M/W), Chattanooga (W), Clark Atlanta (W), Emory (M/W), Georgia Southern (W), Georgia State (W), Hillsdale College (M/W), Jacksonville State (W), Kennesaw State (M/W), Lee (M/W), Mississippi College (M/W), Transylvania Univ. (M) and Valdosta State (M/W).

The Yellow Jackets lined up against host Alabama, Central Arkansas, Indiana State, Kennesaw State, UL-Lafayette, LSU, Memphis, Mississippi State, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Troy, Tulane and UAB (women).

GAINESVILLE, Fl. – Georgia Tech track & field closed out Week Three of the 2021 outdoor season at the final day of Florida Relays at James G. Pressly Stadium on Saturday. COLUMBIA, S.C. – Senior men’s distance runner
Andrew Kent broke the men’s indoor 3K school record at the South Carolina Invitational clocking in at 7:56.48 on Saturday afternoon.
Kent’s mark was just over a second faster than the previous record of 7:57.73 set by Nahom Solomon in 2019. The Atlanta native moved up past nearly half the field of competition during the second half of the race. This is the first individual school record that Kent has broken in his collegiate career. His time was just over ten seconds faster than his previous personal best of 8:06.63. At the time of publication Kent now holds the No. 10 mark in the country in the 3K.
