Bria Matthews and Notre Dame’s Stefani Deschner have been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s nominees for the 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
Matthews and Deschner emerged as the ACC’s 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year candidates following a vote of the league’s 15 member schools. Each year, conferences select up to two nominees from their member institutions nominations based on their respective achievements in academics, athletics, service and leadership. All conference-level nominees are then forwarded to the Woman of the Year selection committee, which will choose the top 10 honorees in each division in September. From the top 30, the selection committee will then determine three finalists in each division before the Committee on Women’s Athletics votes to determine the 2021 Woman of the Year.

– Recognizing their achievements in the classroom for the 2020-21 academic year, Georgia Tech placed 248 student-athletes on the 65th annual Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Track and field led the way for the Jackets with 64 student-athletes on the honor roll, including three who earned the honor for the fifth or sixth time. Swimming and diving added 49 honorees, while football earned 42, followed by baseball with 33.
Track and field’s Bria Matthews was one of only six student-athletes in the league to earn the recognition for the sixth time, while Sam Costa and Andrew Kent both received the honor for the fifth time. Additionally, 28 Yellow Jackets picked up the honor for the fourth time in their careers and a total of 65 student-athletes were named to the list for at least the third time in their collegiate careers.
