The Franklin County Sheriff s SWAT deputy who shot and killed Casey Goodson Jr. on Dec. 4 is also a Baptist pastor and has used his faith to justify law enforcement s use of force.
Michael Jason Meade, a 17-year sheriff s department veteran who goes by Jason, described use of force as righteous release in a 2018 video interview posted on YouTube by the Franklin County Sheriff s office.

U.S. Attorney DeVillers says his office is leading Goodson probe

Hours after local U.S. Attorney David DeVillers issued a statement about the Casey Goodson Jr. shooting death case Wednesday, incoming Franklin County Prosecutor Gary Tyack issued his own statement that appeared to clarify some of the information DeVillers released.
DeVillers said in his announcement that his office is overseeing the joint investigation into the Dec. 4 shooting death of 23-year-old Goodson by Franklin County Sheriff s SWAT deputy Jason Meade on Estates Place in the Northeast Side.
Investigators from the Columbus police Critical Incident Response Team, the FBI, the U.S. Department of Justice s Office of the Inspector General and the U.S. Attorney s Office for the Southern District of Ohio are conducting the investigation, DeVillers said. ....
