Several Cape organizations have stepped up with donations to the Housing Assistance Corporation s Workforce Relief Fund, just as the state s eviction moratorium is expected to be lifted at the end of the month. The corporation recently received $80,000 in donations to the fund, which offers money to help keep residents struggling to pay their rent or mortgaged housed during the pandemic. Created when COVID-19 first started to affect the region, the fund offers one-time emergency assistance payments to year-round residents who are experiencing a gap between their incomes and eligibility requirements for governmental programs. The Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation donated $50,000, the Cape and Islands Association of Realtors donated $20,000 and Shepley Wood Products donated nearly $10,000 to the fund. Barnstable Brewing also kicked in money from sales of its Civic Rent lager. ....
