Vaccine Operations Centre - Weekly Operational Update 10 May

There have been 2,663,221 vaccinations completed as increasing supplies of vaccine are delivered to more than 5200 sites across the country.
As of today, 4,620,108 doses of vaccine have been delivered to those sites by the Australian Government, with 4,086,946 doses available for use.
The Vaccine Operations Centre (VOC) continues to play a lead role in the vaccination rollout. It is working in close partnership with the states, territories and the primary care sector to safely, securely and efficiently store, transport, deliver and administer COVID-19 vaccines across Australia.
Operations Coordinator of the VOC, Commodore Eric Young, CSC, RAN, said: ‘Last week, we had a major boost to the vaccination program, significantly increasing the allocation of Pfizer to states and territories, and AstraZeneca to General Practices. ....

1,937,300 vaccinations have been completed as increasing supplies of vaccine are delivered to more than 5000 sites across the country.
As of today, 3,589,686 doses of vaccine have been delivered to those sites by the Australian Government, with 1,088,552 doses available for use.
The Vaccine Operations Centre (VOC) plays a lead role in the vaccination rollout. It is working in close partnership with the States, Territories and the primary care sector to safely, securely and efficiently store, transport, deliver and administer COVID-19 vaccines across Australia, in support of Phase 1a and 1b of the rollout.

Background and Aims: Unhealthy alcohol consumption is a key concern for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (‘Indigenous’) communities. It is important to identify and treat at-risk drinkers, to prevent harms to physical or social wellbeing. We aimed to test whether training and support for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) staff would increase rates of alcohol screening and brief intervention. Design: Cluster randomized trial. Setting: Australia. Cases/Intervention/Measurements. Twenty-two ACCHSs that see at least 1000 clients per year and use Communicare as practice management software. The study included data on 70 419 clients, training, regular data feedback, collaborative support and funding for resources ($9000). Blinding was not used. The comparator was waiting-list control (equal allocation). Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT-C) screening and records of brief interventions were extracted from practice management software at 2-monthly int ....

Delivering more Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services in NT

The Australian Government is investing $8.75 million over four years to provide additional health services in the Northern Territory as part of its commitment to strengthen Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
Delivered through the Northern Territory Pathways to Community Control program (NT P2CC), the funding will provide First Nations people with access to effective, high quality, comprehensive and culturally appropriate primary health care services.
This investment builds on the $4 million already committed for transition activities occurring in West Arnhem, demonstrating the strong partnerships that exist between the Commonwealth and Northern Territory Government and other key members of the NT Aboriginal Health Forum, including the Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance NT (AMSANT). ....
