MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WDLB) Â City leaders in Marshfield have voted to move forward with proceedings that could end with the removal of Mayor Bob McManus from office.
WDLB Radio in Marshfield reports that the investigation stems from an open-records request relating to text messages that were allegedly sent by McManus from a city-issued cell phone.
According to McManus, an investigation into the matter was opened by the Portage County Sheriff’s office last fall. The results were turned over to the Wood County District Attorney before the end of 2020, and the matter was closed without any formal charges.
Tester Says $600 Billion GOP Plan Falls Short (5:17 p.m.)
Senator Jon Tester, a moderate Democrat from Montana, said the Covid-19 relief plan detailed Monday by 10 Republican senators doesnât do nearly enough, and that âif push comes to shoveâ he could support President Joe Bidenâs $1.9 trillion proposal.
âUltimately in the end this needs to be big enough to get the job done,â Tester told reporters in the Capitol. âIf we have to come back time and time and time again, I donât think thatâs good for the economy.â
Tester said he will support a planned budget blueprint that reflects Bidenâs proposal, setting the stage in case Democrats decide to do a partisan relief package. He said he would like to see some changes to what Biden wants, âbut if push comes to shove and we donât change it, Iâll vote for the $1.9 trillion.â
