Fairhaven Tree Department requests wage increase for workers

Audit of Fairhaven Building Department to help standardize permit process

FAIRHAVEN A recent audit did not turn up numbers regarding possible lost revenue from building and permit fees, but it did reveal other issues in the Building Department.
The Board of Selectmen previously had discussed that revenue from the Building Department for 2019 and much of 2020 was down substantially from previous years, so the town hired an accounting firm to investigate these concerns.
At the Dec. 21 selectmen meeting, the board discussed the findings from an audit conducted by CPA firm Melanson Heath.
Representative Zack Ventross from Melanson Heath attended via Zoom for the presentation. Ventross stated his firm was engaged by the town to “review departments’ internal controls” and “also develop expectations of revenue in departments and help improve internal auditing processes.” ....
