JD(U)-RJD rift widens ahead of Bengal polls

Patna, Feb 28 : Differences have emerged between the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Janata Dal (United) in Bihar ahead of the Assembly elections in West Bengal beginning March 27.
Elections for the West Bengal Assembly will be held in eight phases, up from seven last time, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said while announcing the poll schedule on Friday.
JD(U) leader and Bengal in-charge Ghulam Rasool Balyawi lashed out at RJD after it claimed that the JD(U)’s Bengal wing will soon merge with the party. ....

NEW DELHI: Confident of winning all the five upcoming Assembly polls, the schedule for which was announced by the Election Commission (EC) on Friday, the BJP said it will reach out to people with a positive agenda of development and a self-reliant India.
Voting for the Assembly polls in four states and the Union Territory of Puducherry will begin on March 27, with West Bengal to witness the maximum of eight phases of polling continuing till April 29, the EC announced on Friday. Counting of votes for the four states and Puducherry will be taken up on May 2.
Welcoming the announcement of the poll schedule, BJP s national media in-charge Anil Baluni said, We will go to people with a positive agenda of development, a self-reliant India and the welfare work done by the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ....

NEW DELHI, Feb 26:  Voting for five Assembly elections will begin on March 27, with West Bengal conducting the maximum eight phases continuing till April 29, and votes for the polls in the four States and one Union Territory will be counted on May 2, the Election Commission said today.
As many as 18.68 crore voters will be eligible to cast their votes at 2.7 lakh polling stations for 824 Assembly seats across Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The elections for the five Assemblies are expected to witness a determined attempt by the BJP to put a strong show, including in Assam where it is already in power, as well as in West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry where the saffron party has been pushing hard in recent years. ....
