SA concession cardholders to get free solar systems South Australian Premier Steven Marshall has announced that 1000 concession cardholders in the state will have access to free solar systems. The Premier announced the Switch for Solar trial program in May, enabling households to swap their energy concession payments for brand new rooftop systems. The pilot will see 1000 homes in selected suburbs given a chance to trade their concession payments over ten years for a 4.4 kilowatt solar PV system installed at no cost. Concession card holders currently receive $215.10 per year from the Cost of Living Concession and up to $231.41 per year towards their energy bill, totalling $446.51. By trading these for a solar system, they will save up to $665 more a year on their energy costs. ....

The latest figures from Domain have shown that the national vacancy rate is now below pre-pandemic levels. It’s dropped to 1.8 per cent in April 2021 – the lowest since March 2020 – following three consecutive months of steady rates. Every capital city except Melbourne saw an annual decline, with Hobart recording the lowest vacancy rate at 0.5 per cent, followed by Adelaide and Darwin with 0.6 per cent, and Canberra and PerthPerth, TASPerth, WA with 0.8 per cent ....

After years of subdued activity, the volume of new dwellings advertised for sale has surpassed the five-year average volume, usually added at this time of the year, CoreLogic’s head of research, Eliza Owen, said. In the four weeks to 25 April, the combined capital cities have recorded a total of 27,055 new listings, taking the latest count for 2021 17 per cent above the five-year average. ....

An Adelaide council will hold a special meeting tonight to move a third motion of no confidence against its mayor to have him removed from power. Kevin Knight is being investigated by Tea Tree Gully Council lawyers over a number of allegations of misconduct against a female council staffer. The mayor has denied the accusations against him, arguing that Norman Waterhouse, the Tea Tree Gully legal team, have a conflict of interest in investigating the matter.
