Five Whangārei District councillors are seeking to overturn their council s vote for Māori wards.
Cr Vince Cocurullo said the challenge sought to have Whangārei District Council s November decision for Māori representation on council rescinded.
The formal challenge will come from Cocurullo, Shelley Deeming, Phil Halse, Greg Martin and Simon Reid at next Thursday s full council meeting. ....

Hawker Saber is one of the survivors of the chemical attack Saddam Hussein ordered on the Kurdish town of Halabja 33 years ago but he needs a respirator to stay alive.
Saber, who is hooked to the machine for more than 20 hours a day, was just three at the time but he still has terrible memories of March 16, 1988.
On that day, for five hours, Iraq s air force rained down a deadly cocktail of chemical weapons, including mustard gas, on Halabja in the mountains of northeastern Iraq, according to experts. ....

Tauranga City Council buys, sells, leases or transfers property for a number of different reasons and now it is seeking feedback on those decisions.
The draft Acquisitions and Disposals Policy is now open for submissions.
The reasons for the buying and selling of property by the council include public works such as roads and other infrastructure, green space or recreational purposes, and managing land identified for future public use.
The buying and selling of property by council is called acquisition and disposal, the council said in a media statement. ....

BANGKOK: Investors are confident in the long-term future of the Asia-Pacific hotels market despite ongoing COVID-19 pressure on the tourism and hospitality sectors, says JLL. According to investors surveyed by JLL, approximately 70% say they are bullish on the Asia-Pacific hotel market and are interested in deploying capital into the sector in 2021.

JLL is forecasting approximately US$7 billion in transactions in 2021, an increase of 20% year-on-year, up from $5.8 billion in 2020.
