ARLINGTON, Va. New Jersey and New York City declared emergencies on Sunday as a powerful winter storm that hammered the West last week roared through the Midwest and took aim at the Northeast.
Blizzard conditions with up to 2 feet of snow were possible for some areas.
Almost 80 million people were under winter storm warnings, watches and advisories. Major Eastern cities including Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York City were bracing for the biggest snowfall of the season, Accuweather warned. 
The National Weather Service also forecast that winds could gust between 35 to 50 mph, reducing visibility with drifting snow and leading to danger of falling tree branches and power lines. ....

Milford, MetroWest could see 8-12 inches of snow Monday night into Tuesday

The storm that ushered in February is winding down, with much of the region recording over a foot of snow.
As of 5.a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service, 17 inches of snow have fallen in Hudson, the most recorded in MetroWest to date, Wilmington has the highest total in Middlesex County, at 20 inches.
The Hudson total was recorded at 11:26 p.m. on Monday, meaning the amount will likely grow.
Marlborough is reporting 14 inches and Natick 13, with Framingham and Sudbury at a foot.
Milford also piled up 12 inches and Bellingham 8, though totals are likely to climb as more communities report in later this morning. ....

After days of frigid temperatures, the Northeast braced for a whopper of a storm that could dump well over a foot of snow in many areas, create blizzard-like conditions and cause travel problems for the next few days.
The storm system blanketed parts of the Midwest in the most snow some places had seen in several years. Chicago got almost 7 inches of snow by Sunday morning, leading to the cancellation of a couple hundred flights at the city’s two airports. In Wisconsin, snow depths in some counties near Lake Michigan had reached more than 15 inches, and the snow was still falling. ....

After an overnight snowstorm dropped more than 10 inches on parts of southeastern Wisconsin, the Milwaukee area has its deepest snow cover in at least a decade.
The National Weather Service showed that Glendale and Racine were reporting 13 inches of snow Sunday morning. Kenosha had 12 inches as of 11:30 a.m. Grafton, Cedarburg, Mequon and Oak Creek had reports of 11 inches. 
More than a dozen municipalities in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine and Kenosha counties were reporting at least 10 inches of snow Sunday morning.  ....
