Sen. Lummis Discusses National Debt, Sustainable Budgeting
Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis called the Wake Up Wyoming program with Glenn Woods on Tuesday to talk about a plan to curb the mounting national debt.
Lummis told Woods that what is needed is something along the lines of the Simpson-Bowles plan of 2010. That proposal would have capped spending at 21 percent of the National Gross Domestic Product, closed tax loopholes, reduced health care spending, and taken several other steps to balance the budget.

The plan would have also reduced Social Security Benefits to higher-income people and eventually have raised the age to collect Social Security to 69. ....

Nigeria emerges chairman, executive secretary of WATRA

Nigeria has emerged as chairman of the West Africa Telecommunications Regulators Assembly (WATRA) by a consensus of all the parties concerned.
This unanimous decision was reached after several virtual and physical engagements by the Assembly with the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, supported by the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC), of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Garba Danbatta.
The Nigeria Communications Act (NCA 2003), by default, bequeaths the power of representation at international fora on the Minister as the sector’s supervisor and national policymaker. That makes Dr Pantami chairman of WATRA.
Similarly, the nomination of the candidate for the position of Executive Secretary also met with resounding success as Engr Aliyu Aboki emerged the winner of a keenly contested election involving six countries. ....

When the year started, the dairy industry looked promising. Kenya was exporting nearly 47,000 kilogrammes of milk products in January, a figure that rose to 82,682 in February and then to 94,795 in March, Kenya Dairy Board (KDB) Data of July 2020 show.
Then the figures tanked.
In April, Kenya exported just over 10,000 kilogrammes of milk products, at a time when international travel restrictions hit top gear. The figures looked worse for May and June, 5,169 and 5,488 kilogrammes respectively. ....

Oyo govt releases 50 stalls to farmers

The Oyo State government has released 50 open stalls in the Scout Camp Neighbourhood market, Ibadan, at no cost, to the “Oja-Agbe” Farmers Association for the next one year.
Speaking at the event, state Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Mr Adeniyi Adebisi, said the gesture is to enable farmers in the state easily dispose off their farm products.
Adebisi added that the gesture was aimed at improving the economic wellbeing of traders and growing the economy of the state.
He urged the farmers to reciprocate government’s gesture by ensuring a transformation of trading and economic activities in the Scout Camp Market. ....
