Mississippi Senior Olympics are back in full swing
The Mississippi Senior Olympics are back in action. All 2020 events were canceled because of COVID-19, but now seniors can enjoy the competition.
Over the weekend, a pickleball tournament took place at Popp’s Ferry Recreational Center. The tournament is one of the largest events in the Mississippi Senior Olympics.

This event is a way for those 50 and over to get up and get active to ultimately qualify and compete in the National Senior Olympic Games.
Senior Olympics Pickleball Tournament Operator Jennifer Pugh tells News 25 it is very important for seniors to stay active. “There are proven medical statistics that show the more active you are throughout your life and especially into your older years you have less health complications in particularly around a pandemic year where this particular virus affects people who have those complications.
