Korea Forest Service, a model for cutting emissions through forestation Posted : 2021-08-05 07:37 By Nam Hyun-woo Cutting carbon emissions has become a worldwide obligation, forcing countries to make their own contributions to battle against climate change, whether they are advanced or developing. As one of the most effective means to cut emissions, forestation has garnered keen attention. This trend is shedding new light on efforts by the Korea Forest Service (KFS) to reach emissions reduction goals partly through emissions reductions achieved overseas. KFS Minister Choi Byeong-am says that the agency will play a pivotal role in helping Korea meet its target of cutting 16 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions via forestation projects outside the country.
