Submitted PIGEON FORGE â Crime fighting isnât just for humans. There are furry friends throughout the country that also help to solve crimes. Alcatraz East Crime Museum is highlighting the importance of police service animals in a new display. The exhibit will open on July 23, 2021, and as part of the exhibit, they will have on-going guest appearances from varying departments. The first of which will be the morning of the launch from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., where guests can meet local K-9âs from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). âPolice animals do important work and we are happy to help put a spotlight on them,â said Summer Blalock, sales and marketing manager for Alcatraz East. âWe are pleased to partner with TBI, so our guests can learn about these spectacular K-9âs and what it takes to train them.â ....

New K9 officer joins Grantsville City Police Department Grantsville City Police Department and last updated 2021-05-05 20:58:02-04 GRANTSVILLE, Utah â Residents in Grantsville, Utah can expect to see a new K9 officer hitting the streets and helping out the local police department soon. Ludo is a one-year-old German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix. He was purchased from Right Hand K9 through a grant from the National Police Dog Foundation and from a Rocky Mountain Power donation. Officer Kelsie Creek (pictured above) was assigned to be Ludo s partner. The pair has been certified in narcotics detection and patrol and will be starting their duties in the community soon. ....

A day in the life of a deputy from the K9 unit is something to bark about. Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office Deputy A.J. Noriega is K9 Candice’s handler. The two mainly patrol Interstate-25 in hopes of catching drugs, human trafficking and other offenses. Candice is a narcotics detection dog, he said. “I feel tremendous when we capture drugs, even the small amounts of drugs,” Noriega said. A batch of drugs intercepted could have prevented someone overdosing and a family losing a member, he said. ....
RPD grateful for donation covering K-9 s surgery cost RICHMOND, Ind. Richmond Police Department K-9 Uzi recently was injured and required surgery. The surgery s cost was ultimately covered by a $4,213.84 donation from the National Police Dog Foundation, a nonprofit that provides donations for active and retired police dogs round the country. In a news release, RPD expressed its thanks for the foundation s donation. RPD applied for the medical assistance. Uzi was injured in an off-duty incident and required surgery to his left rear leg. Uzi is a 4-year-old Belgian malinois that joined RPD in May 2019. His handler is Officer Jourdan Brouse. ....
