Friends fans got the best surprise last week when HBO Max released a teaser trailer for the show s long-awaited reunion episode. The cult classic sitcom that began in the 90s famously features Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer as six friend living in New York City. Fans were able to watch it endlessly on Netflix for years, but after its contract with Netflix ended at the start of 2020, it has been binge-able on HBO Max, who will now air the reunion special starting May 27. So now the urgency begins. I ve seen Friends all the way through exactly one time during college and loved every second of it. My boyfriend, on the other hand, had a harder time getting into it at first and had only gotten through the first half of season one.. That is until now. When HBO Max announced the reunion episode s debut was just two weeks away, we decided to take on the challenge of watching nine and a half seasons in just 14 ....
After more than a week of scrubbed launches, NASA employees and enthusiasts finally got to see the KiNet-X mission take to the skies Sunday night. The launch from NASA s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia was originally scheduled for May 7 and was expected to be visible to people all across the East Coast of the United States and in Bermuda. But night after night, officials scrubbed the launch, and after a point, it seemed like it would never happen. Mattapoisett resident Annette Ball DeMaris still held out faith and said she and her husband went to Ned s Point every night in hopes of seeing the launch with their own eyes. And when (the second) Sunday night rolled around, they were able to catch something pretty special during NASA s final effort to launch the rocket. ....
Since the pandemic started just over a year ago, we ve seen a shortage in a number of things, from toilet paper and cleaning supplies to ketchup. Although the latest shortage isn t COVID-related, it s causing some Americans to go into full panic-mode. Last week s cyberattack on the Colonial Pipeline, which, according to NPR, provides about 45 percent of the East Coast s fuel, led to a multiple-day shutdown. As of Thursday morning, though, the Pipeline projected that every market it services would be receiving gas again by mid-day. Although there wasn t concern that the U.S. was running out of gas, per se, Americans put the pedal to the metal, racing to gas stations, causing backups like this in North Carolina. ....
Time for another vocab lesson for COVID times. On the list this week, it s plus-up stimulus payments. Many Americans may have recently gotten their third round of stimulus checks, worth up to $1400 each. But included in the latest stimulus package, there are supplemental payments that only some people may see showing up in their direct deposits or in the mail. The IRS refers to these supplemental payments as plus-up payments, and they ll be sent out to people who may now qualify for more of a stimulus check than they originally received. While all three of the stimulus checks so far have been based on Americans tax returns from 2019, eligibility for the plus-up payments will be based on the recently-processed 2020 tax returns and take into account any changes that may have affected how much stimulus money they could receive. ....
Dairy Queen Free Cone Day Canceled Due to COVID Concerns Dairy Queen is the latest company to announce the cancellation of a fan favorite over COVID concerns. Free Cone Day 2021 has officially been called off and all that free delicious ice cream will not be given away this year. It s usually a sign that spring is coming when Dairy Queen announces the date of their Free Cone Day, but the company has already put the kibosh on the annual event, and honestly rightly so. It s sort of surprising looking back that Free Cone Day 2020 happened at all. Held on March 19 last year, it was probably one of the last big free food giveaway-type events before quarantining and social distancing became our new normal. ....
