The Department of Energy gave a team at Oak Ridge s Y-12 National Security Complex a DOE Secretary’s Project Management Achievement Award.
Each year, the Department recognizes projects that have demonstrated excellence in project management, a news release stated. Specifically, the Secretary s Achievement Award is presented to project teams that have demonstrated significant results in completing projects under budget and ahead of schedule.
The Uranium Processing Facility Substation Subproject winning team delivered the Pine Ridge Substation at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge $16 million under budget and six months ahead of schedule. In leveraging a unique partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority, the project team, led by Darryl Creasy of the National Nuclear Security Administration, was able to execute a cost efficient, best value acquisition strategy with Tennessee� ....

IHC dismisses petitions filed by employees of strategic organisations - Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday ruled that the employees of the strategic organisations working under the National Command Authority (NCA) could not file petitions in constitutional courts to get their service matters settled.
A three-member IHC larger bench observed that to safeguard Pakistan’s nuclear assets and maintain effective mechanism of non-proliferation, service-related matters of those employees should not be adjudicated in the open courts.
“The commitment to non-proliferation and safeguarding against security lapses is a crucial obligation. The desperation of non-state actors involved in terrorism to gain advantage due to weak control and command or breach of confidentiality is not a mere myth,” observed the bench while hearing 108 identical petitions filed by the employees of the organisations working under the NCA. ....

WASHINGTON, D.C. As part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration’s (DOE/NNSA) efforts to modernize capabilities and facilities at the Y-12 National Security Complex (Y-12), on Feb. 26, 2021, DOE/NNSA awarded a $57.5 million Phase 1 contract to Nuclear Fuel Services (NFS) for the design and pilot demonstration of highly enriched uranium (HEU) conversion and purification services.
This contract serves as a bridging strategy to enable Y-12 to develop and implement more modern technologies with improved efficiency and safety to carry out this mission for the long-term. This contract with NFS will result in no reduction in workforce at Y-12. ....
