Updated / Thursday, 29 Apr 2021 10:54 LGBTI+ rights are human rights. Niamh Delmar is a Counselling Psychologist and Mental Health Freelance writer. Here, she writes about how gender identity goes beyond the label of male or female. Gender identity refers to how individuals identify with their own gender. It embraces a range beyond the binary of male or female. A non-binary person rejects the concept of gender and does not identify with being exclusively a woman or man. National Traveller organisations call for compliance with restrictions on funerals

National Traveller organisations call for compliance with restrictions on funerals Reporter:   ); Traveller organisations around the country are today calling on Travellers to fully adhere to COVID-19 public health measures, including restrictions on funerals.  In this way people can show the deceased the respect and dignity they deserve. Both the Government and the Catholic Church have stated that only immediate family members – up to a maximum of 10 people – should attend church and graveside services and physical distancing should be maintained at all times.  Restrictions relate to ALL funerals, including those of people who have died of COVID-19. There are no post-funeral social gatherings and An Gardaí Síochána have powers to enforce COVID-19 restrictions during this crisis.  Neither are large gatherings allowed for month’s mind and yearly headstone blessings.
