The Supreme Court on Wednesday took exception to the delay in responses being filed by states, including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, regarding steps to increase judge strength and dispose of pending cases. If left to the Union of India and the states, no work would happen at the Supreme Court. The government is the largest litigant and in every matter, with few exceptions, there is an application for time, said a bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice MR Shah.

Gandhinagar, Feb 6 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the possibility of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being examined to improve the efficiency and speed of the judiciary in the country.
Modi was virtually addressing an event in Ahmedabad, marking the diamond jubilee of the Gujarat High Court. The Prime Minister also released a commemorative postage stamp marking 60 years of the Gujarat High Court.
He said that along with the country the judicial system of India also stood up in the fight against Covid and improved.
