TMU Women's Volleyball picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday at the Hope Summer Slam in sweep fashion over UC Merced (25-16, 25-13, 25-20) before concluding the tournament with a loss to No. 15 Corban University (Ore.) by set scores of 12-25, 18-25 and 14-25.

Statesmen Provides Large Economic Impact to Community Oskaloosa–William Penn University is a proud member of the Oskaloosa community and is excited to continue to grow its economic footprint. Despite competing in fewer events and in front of smaller crowds during the global pandemic, WPU still hosted well over 100 athletic competitions during the 2020-2021 academic year. Those home events accounted for an estimated economic impact of $453,000 for the Oskaloosa community. In addition to normal outings, the University also hosted a women’s volleyball tournament, the school’s first-ever bowling tournament, a trio of outdoor track and field meets, and the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship for men’s wrestling. In recent years, William Penn has also been the host site for an NAIA National Championship Opening Round tournament for men’s soccer, while bringing in teams for conference tournaments as well.

Half Dozen Statesmen Honored by Heart Oskaloosa–Six members of the William Penn baseball team were honored for extraordinary campaigns this season as the all-Heart of America Athletic Conference awards were announced Friday. Starting pitcher Teddy Natter (Jr., Reno, Nev., Business Management) and outfielder Tanner Bedier (So., Bondurant, Iowa, Business Management) were two of 17 first-team selections, while the trio of first baseman Jarrett Hunt (Sr., Logan, Utah, Digital Communications), second baseman Adrian Garcia (Sr., Ontario, Calif., Sociology), and starting pitcher Chase Stratton (Sr., Clearfield, Utah, Sports Management) joined a crew of 24 on the honorable-mention list. An additional 17 individuals were also recognized on the second team.

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (vcsuvikings.com) – Valley City State baseball swept the final edition of the North Star Athletic Association Baseball Players of the Week. Reed Butz was selected as the Pitcher of the Week and Jorun Hamre was chosen as the Player of the Week. North Star Athletic Association Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week Reed Butz – Valley City State (N.D.) – 6’2″ – Junior – pitcher – Rockford, Ill. – Butz tossed eight shutout innings as Valley City State (N.D.) went 4-1 record for the week.  He pitched two shutout innings with two strikeouts, despite a 5-3 extra-innings setback at NCAA Division I North Dakota State.  He followed up with a victory over Presentation (S.D.) after pitching six scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts.  For the week, Butz limited its opponents to .148 batting average (4 hits allowed) and tallied 13 strikeouts.  He did not allow a run.

Smith, Husband Named NSAA Players Of The Week

VALLEY CITY, N.D (vcsuvikings.com) – Valley City State swept the final edition of the North Star Athletic Association’s Softball Players of the Week. Emily Smith was named Pitcher of the Week and Jessica Husband was chosen as Player of the Week. It is the fifth time this season that the Vikings have swept the weekly honor. North Star Athletic Association Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week Emily Smith – Valley City State (N.D.) – 5’7″ – Senior – pitcher – Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada – Smith earned three victories on the week, including two shutouts as Valley City State (N.D.) went 6-0 record for the week.  The Vikings claimed the North Star Athletic Association regular-season title as Smith tossed a complete game with 11 strikeouts and allowed one run on four hits in 9-1 victory at Mayville State (N.D.).  For the week, Smith gave up just one run and finished all three games in five innings.  She struck out 25 batters and held its opponents to a .113 ba
