How Nigeria can reap maximum benefits under AfCFTA — NAGAFF

Lagos, Feb. 9, 2021 The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) on Tuesday urged government to take urgent actions to ensure Nigeria reaps maximum benefits under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.
The President of NAGAFF, Mr Increase Uche, made the appeal at the the National Action Committee on AfCFTA Implementation Engagement Series for the maritime sub-sector (freight forwarders and shippers).
According to him, taking the urgent actions will ensure that Nigeria is ahead of others and places its resources strategically to make an impact.
He said that creating a deep sea port to provide the transshipment needs in the maritime sector and making the port competitive were necessary. ....

NAFDAC Warns against Dubious Elements Engaging in Forgery at Ports

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted the general public of the unprofessional behaviour of some unscrupulous agents operating at the ports who indulge in forgery and doctoring of its documents.
The agency also reacted to an allegation by the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) that its officials were engaging in indiscriminate collection of product samples at the ports, describing it as false.
In a statement issued by the Director of Ports Inspection, Prof. Samson Adebayo, on behalf of the Director General, the agency said it is important to inform the general public of the “unprofessional behavior of some unscrupulous agents operating at the Ports (Air & Sea) and Land who indulge in forgery and doctoring of documents”. ....

Apapa: Gridlock, chaos return as truck drivers defy Sanwo-Olu's directive on regulation

Residents, motorists and commuters along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway are currently groaning as gridlock retuned due to the activities of truck and tanker drivers who have taken over the roads, parking indiscriminately.
The situation, which resurfaced since two weeks ago worsened on Wednesday, as recalcitrant commercial motorcyclists, popularly called “Okoda” riders in their horde, engaged in violent clash with truck drivers as a result of accident which reportedly claimed three of their (okada riders) colleagues.
As a result of the situation the entire Apapa Oshodi Expressway was in total standstill for the better part of the day spilling over into midnight. ....
