'Insulting' pay offer turned down by unions | Local Government Chronicle (LGC)


Trade unions have resoundingly rejected the 1.5% pay offer recently made to council employees and requested urgent talks for further negotiation.
At a meeting of Unison’s local government committee, representatives of council and school workers dismissed the offer as insulting .
The amount offered by the national employers, who negotiate pay on behalf of local authorities, fell well short of the 10% joint claim submitted by the unions GMB, Unite and Unison in February.
The 1.50% offer for all NJC pay points 1 and above, which was made earlier this month, included an agreement to complete the outstanding work of the joint term-time only review group, which affects calculations of annual leave entitlement for term time only employees. ....
