The Nigerian Shippers Council, NSC, and the National Insurance Company of Nigeria, NICON, have finalised measures to curb the loss of about N670 million suffered by shippers in the country over failure to return empty containers within   the time specified by shipping lines.  
Shippers pay container deposits to shipping lines namely, N300,000 for a 40 foot container or   N150,000 for a 20 foot container. However, the shipper forfeits the deposit if the container is not returned to the shipping line within the   grace period which is usually two to three weeks.   ....

On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) , Mr Godwin Emefiele addressed the first  press conference in the year where he unfolded the decision of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) on the  rates that will drive operations in the money market.  Expectedly, all the key indicators were retained. Monetary Policy Rate ( MPR) stays at 11.5 percent, Liquidity Ratio, 30 percent, Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) and Asymmetric Corridor were also retained at 27.5 percent and +100 and-700 basis points respectively. The rationale for retaining the monetary policy instruments rates is not a rocket science. It may be a costly gamble for the apex bank to adjust any of the rates while the economy is trapped in stagflation. Osoka Replaces Onwuka As Enterprise Bank Chairman


Following the recent resignation of Mr Emeka Onwuka as chairman of the Board of Enterprise Bank Limited, the bank has announced the appointment of Sir Ogala Osoka as the new chairman.
Onwuka resigned his appointment on October 1, 2013, to enable him work with a group of investors who intend to acquire Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) shares in the three nationalised banks.
Osoka has been a non-executive director of Enterprise Bank since November 2011 and also the chairman of the Board Credit Committee.
A highly experienced manager of human and material resources, Osoka was trained at the City of London College (London Metropolitan University) and University of Nottingham. He also currently chairs a good number of organisations and sits in others as a Board member. ....
