President Bio’s opening salvo in this year’s speech at the State opening of Parliament set the scene very well. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to Human Capital Development, which he said was not a mere slogan. Indeed, his litany of achievements seem to be skewed firmly towards Human Development.
The President is rightly proud of the recruitment and training of thousands of teachers and hiring and deploying more school inspectors in every District. The construction of the University of Kono will start later this year. NACSA has embarked upon activities for protecting the most vulnerable by building school and community infrastructure. Government also provided cash transfers to over a hundred thousand poor and vulnerable families and informal sector workers and is implementing the National Micro-Finance Programme (MUNAFA FUND) to provide finance to targeted SMEs. ....

The national dress plays a symbolic role in the preservation of national values, culture and identity, as seen yesterday during the provincial launch of the national fabric spearheaded by First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa.
Unlike other countries in the region, Zimbabwe was among the few without their national dress, hence the First Lady’s intervention which was welcomed by various stakeholders
Yesterday, the First Lady was guest of honour at a function where all the country’s provinces battled it out for honours in cutting and designing outfits using the national fabric. ....

Youth Day: Monday a public holiday - Zimbabwe Situation

GOVERNMENT has declared tomorrow a public holiday in lieu of today’s National Youth Day that is commemorated to honour the country’s founding leader, the late former president Cde Robert Mugabe.
February 21 was proclaimed a holiday in 2017 in recognition of Cde Mugabe’s works in championing the 21st February Movement that celebrates the contribution of young people to local political and socio-economic development.
The late national hero was born on February 21, 1924.
In a statement, the Ministry of  Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage advised the public that the holiday will be rolled over to tomorrow.
“In terms of the Extraordinary Government Gazette of 2 October 2020, on the Public Holidays in 2021, Sunday 21st February is the National Youth Day,” read the statement. ....
