Nuneaton man jailed for child sex offences | Tamworth Informed

A NUNEATON man has been jailed for seven years and six months for a string of child sex offences against two young girls.
John Stuart Keens, 64, from Nuneaton was handed the prison term at Warwick Crown Court last week after admitting to sexually assaulting them.
Keens two victims told how they were sexually abused by him when they were under the age of 13. The offences took place between 2014 and 2020 in Nuneaton.
The Warwickshire Police Child Abuse, Trafficking and Exploitation Team launched an investigation in December 2020 after one of the victims disclosed the abuse to her father. ....

UK says NO MORE to domestic abuse

ONE of Northumbria s most senior safeguarding officers is urging victims who have been locked down with their abusers to come forward as restrictions begin to ease in the coming weeks and months.
Domestic abuse lead for Northumbria Police detective superintendent Lisa Laverick believes victims of abuse have felt unable to leave volatile relationships the past few months due to extended lockdown restrictions.
Now with the Government announcement that restrictions will be eased over coming weeks and months, det supt Laverick wants to encourage victims to come forward who may have been suffering in silence throughout lockdown with their abuser.
It comes as part of NO MORE week, which is a campaign led by UK Says No More, to raise awareness of domestic abuse and sexual violence, inspiring individuals, organisations and communities to make changes. ....

In 2014, Valerie Forde approached the police for help after her ex-partner threatened to burn her down her house – with Valerie and their 23-month-old daughter, RJ, inside. Police recorded the call as a “threat to property”, and no safeguarding procedures were put in place.
Weeks later, Valerie and RJ were murdered.
A review that followed outlined a number of flaws in the reporting. Changes were recommended but on International Women’s Day – and as we approach the seventh anniversary of Valerie and RJ’s death this month – we must wonder what changes have actually been made. ....
