Hardin fourth grader headed to National Youth Leadership Forum in Denver


HARDIN, Mont. - A Hardin fourth grader is headed to the National Youth Leadership Forum in Denver after being nominated by a teacher.
Ten-year-old Vernon Hugs will be learning about medicine, crime scene investigation and engineering while at the forum. It s planned for July 11-15 in Denver, Colorado.
He loves science., said Hardin Intermediate School Teacher Lori Flory.  He s an all-around excellent student.
Vernon confirmed that his favorite subject in school is science. He particularly loves dinosaurs, especially the Apatosaurus and Theropods.
I do like dinosaurs, he said. I know a lot of them, even ones that a lot of people don t know. ....

WASHINGTON This summer, Luke Baker, of Washington, will join outstanding middle school students from across the nation who are taking part in a unique academic and career oriented development experience, National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Explore STEM, in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
NYLF: Explore STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), is one of the Envision by WorldStrides family of programs that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.

Local fourth-grader Alexavia Mendez has received a great honor from the National Youth Leadership Forum. Last year her third-grade teacher Mrs. Dea nominated her for the National Youth Leadership Forum’s STEM Camp and the Mendez family found out in November that Alexavia had been accepted into the program. ....

Three Local Students Earn Memorial Hospital Scholarships


The hospital announced today that Rikki Cozad, Delaney Gardea, and Abby Hautala all received the honor.
Two of the scholarships were awarded by the MHSC General Medical staff. Cozad, a Rock Springs High School student, and Gardea, a Green River High School student, each received a scholarship for $3,000. The hospital contributes $1,500 and the medical staff contributes $1,500 to each scholarship.

Hautala received a $1,500 scholarship from Sweetwater Memorial. The hospital, through its Marketing Department and a committee of four hospital department directors awards the scholarship annually to an RSHS Health Academy student on behalf of the entire MHSC staff. ....

DEKALB JUNCTION The valedictorian and salutatorian have been named at Hermon-DeKalb Central School for the Class of 2021.
Valedictorian Elaine Clark, daughter of Joseph and Heather Clark, has been named Valedictorian of the Hermon-DeKalb Central School Class of 2021. Her academic achievements have earned her an overall grade point average of 96.61% and she will graduate with a Regents diploma and has earned twelve college credits.
Among her many honors and scholarships, Elaine is a recipient of The Clarkson Achievement Award, the Junior Key Award, the Presidential Award, and the Horizons Scholarship. Elaine was also selected as a representative for the National Youth Leadership Forum in Advanced Medicine and Healthcare at John Hopkins, as well as receiving a certificate of selection for the Congress of Future Medical Leaders Award of Excellence from Mario Capecchi, Ph ....
