Alarcon has been accepted to 14 universities so far and plans to attend New York University to pursue a degree in criminology.
“I am beyond honored to be recognized as a Girls Inc. National Scholar,” said Alarcon. “I have been involved with Girls Inc. since the seventh grade, and at that time Girls Inc. was my safe space playing a vital role in improving my mental health and encouraging me to pursue my career and academic goals.

Former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence was named Wednesday to the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame’s NFF Hampshire Honor Society. Additional information from the National Football Foundation is included below.
IRVING, Texas (April 14, 2021) – The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced today the members of the 2021 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.
An elite group of 910 players from 255 schools qualified for membership in 2021, the Society’s 15th year. The initiative has now honored 13,077 student-athletes since its inception. ....

Sakinah Rashid, a member of  Girls Inc. of Chattanooga and student at Tyner Academy, has been chosen as a 2021 Girls Inc. National Scholar and awarded a $20,000 Girls Inc. Lucile Miller Wright scholarship.  Ms. Rashid was selected for her outstanding academic achievements, community service work, and dedication to the Girls Inc. mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.  Ms. Rashid is one of 30 Girls Inc. National Scholars selected in 2021 from across the United States and Canada.
Toccora Johnson, CEO of Girls Inc. and former Program Coordinator Jaleesa Brumfield shared the exciting news to Ms. Rashid and her parents during lunch.
