Good morning. I m Steve Inskeep. It s always good to bring fresh eyes to a problem, like the 4-year-old who was walking with her father on a beach in Wales and who said, Daddy, look. Lily Wilder discovered a footprint in the stone, a dinosaur footprint about four inches long and, experts said, 220 million years old. That print has gone to the National Museum in Cardiff, where a paleontologist says it s the best specimen ever found on this beach. It s MORNING EDITION. Four-year-old girl discovers dinosaur footprint on beach near Barry | Wales


A four-year-old girl has discovered a dinosaur footprint, preserved in rock on a beach near Barry, south Wales.
The 220-million-year-old print was found by Lilly Walker and her family when they were out on a walk in their local area.
Lily was the first to spot the footprint on a loose block near the sea at Bendricks Bay, which is a well-known beach for its dinosaur footprints.
The print has been described by the National Museum of Wales Palaeontology curator as the best specimen ever found on this beach .
The fossil has been extracted from the rock and has been taken to National Museum Cardiff where it can be studied and preserved. ....

A four-year-old girl found a dinosaur footprint on a beach in Wales that dates back 220 million years.
The print was most likely left by a small and slim dinosaur that walked on its two hind feet.
Experts are calling it the finest impression of a 215 million-year-old dinosaur print found in a decade. ....

After millions of years, humans who mastered paleontology successfully discovered several dinosaur fossils and learned several facts about these giants who once roamed the blue planet like a king.
