NEW DELHI: The first meeting of BRICS Employment Working Group (EWG) was held virtually from May 11-12, during which, member-countries agreed to formulate a framework on Social Security Agreement.
“Social Security Agreement would help the international workers to port their benefit to their home countries thereby preventing loss of their hard-earned money. Further they will be exempted from contributing both in home as well as host countries,” the labour ministry said in a statement. ....

Many experts are of the opinion that increasing the working hours will not necessarily yield more
Last month, a news that attracted attention was “the government was open to proposing flexibility in working days with a cap on total hours at 48”.
A back-of-the-envelope calculation shows a person should not work more than 12 hours (4 days x 12 hours = 48 hours). Simple one would think, as currently the work week is usually of five-six days.
The issue of flexibility in working days is being discussed as part of the rules for the new Labour Codes. ....
