Compliance with commitments on child rights stressed

Islamabad : Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) with the support of Save the Children organised a Seminar on ‘Pakistan’s International Commitments and compliance with Child Rights’ on Thursday.
Afshan Tehseen Bajwa, Chairperson National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) shared that NCRC has been set up to make recommendations for effective implementation of policies related to children and recommend the Federal Government to sign, ratify or accede to any proposed International Treaties and Protocols in the best interest of children. She further added that although the commission has started only recently it has an integral role to play for promotion of child rights in Pakistan.

Child Rights activists demanded the Federal and Provincial governments to increase resource allocations to improve the status of child rights in Pakistan Riaz Ahmed Fatyana, chairman, Standing Committee on Law & Justice, National Assembly of Pakistan said that special measures are required to safeguard the rights of vulnerable children.
There is a need to increase overall spending on child rights especially the percentage of developmental budgets in education, child health and nutrition, and child protection.

NCRC must be strengthened to effectively monitor child rights

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairperson of the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) Afshan Tehseen Bajwa has said that the NCRC is mandated by the federal government to monitor the state of child rights in the Country as per our international commitments given by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
Afshan Tehseen Bajwa made these remarks in a consultation on the need for an active role of the National Commission on Child Rights organized by the Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) in Islamabad on Thursday.
‘Govt committed to protect children from all form of violence’

Islamabad : Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) organised a seminar on COVID-19 and Elimination of Violence against Children at local hotel in Islamabad on Monday.
The seminar aimed at creating awareness about the rising trends of violence against children during the ongoing pandemic. Participants including Child Rights Activists and parliamentarians agreed that there is a dire need to end Violence Against Children (VAC) in Pakistan.
