Area colleges weigh in on vaccination requirements Area colleges and universities are strongly encouraging students to get vaccinated prior to the start of classes this fall. In a message to the college community earlier this month, Monmouth College President Clarence Wyatt urged all students to get vaccinated before returning to campus. “It is easy, it is free, and it is one of the very best things that you can do for your family, for your classmates and friends, for the campus, and for yourself,” Wyatt said. Those Monmouth College students who are vaccinated will be exempt from wearing masks and from participating in COVID-19 mitigation testing. ....

Monmouth College Faculty Call for President s Removal By
Faculty members at Monmouth College have called for the removal or resignation of the institution s president, Clarence Wyatt, saying he and his administration were poor financial stewards of the college throughout the past year. Faculty members said their concerns and ideas were largely ignored or dismissed, WQAD 8, an affiliate of ABC, reported. Last spring, Wyatt asked a faculty committee to come up with potential cuts. The committee put forward a set of recommendations that fell short of the college s cost-savings goal. That was mostly out of the blue. So, in August there were already people talking about a vote and then December people again talking about it and we kept putting it off and finally by Spring we decided to go forward with the Vote of No Confidence. As a last resort to try and communicate with the Board of Trustees, the faculty put forward the motion for a Vote of No Confidence in their April 6 faculty meeting. The president excused himself, the Dean was asked to leave so we could speak freely and faculty did. It was very cordial and it was it was as positive a meeting could be considering something of that magnitude. So, we brought forth our arguments. People articulated them. We read the statement.
