Kuala Lumpur: Sabah and Sarawak recorded a drop in the number of flood evacuees today. In Sabah, there were 4,999 flood victims as at 8 am today, from 5,037 people yesterday afternoon.
Sabah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, in a statement today, said the flood victims, who are in the Tenom and Beaufort districts, are housed at 41 relief centres (PPS), which were opened in stages since last Thursday.
Tenom still recorded the highest number of flood victims at 4,396 people involving 1,269 families at 37 PPS, with most of them, involving 476 victims, at the PPS at Dewan Sri Onmtoros, while Beaufort has 603 victims at four PPS, with Dewan DSP Mohd Dun Banir having the most number of evacuees, totalling 231 victims, it said. ....

KUALA LUMPUR: Sabah and Sarawak recorded a drop in the number of flood evacuees today.

Two more areas in Sarawak declared rabies-infected

KUCHING: Two new rabies-infected areas were declared in Sarawak today, bringing the total number of such areas in the state to 69 since July 2017.
The Sarawak Veterinary Services Department (JPVS), in a statement, said that Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) chairman and Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, declared Pedaan in Telang Usan, Miri and Pekan Tatau, Bintulu as the new areas with rabies outbreaks.
“This move is following a positive case of laboratory tests on two wild dogs caught during active surveillance in the area, (which) is outside the 10 km radius of the area that has been previously declared as one,” the statement said. ....

Covid-19: S'wak reports 432 new cases on Tuesday (April 27), Bintulu the highest at 81

KUCHING: Sarawak reported 432 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday (April 27), with 70% detected in five central and northern districts, says the state disaster management committee.
The committee said the five districts with the most cases were Bintulu with 81, Bukit Mabong (64), Miri (60), Sibu (53) and Kanowit (46).
Other districts which reported cases were Selangau and Mukah with 23 each, Kuching (21), Matu (10), Julau (eight), Marudi and Sebauh (six each), Lundu (four), Sri Aman, Sarikei, Subis and Pakan (three each), Serian, Lubok Antu, Bau, Meradong and Betong (two each) and Belaga, Tatau, Beluru, Saratok and Telang Usan (one each), taking the state s tally to 28,961 cases.
The committee said 246 cases were close contacts of Covid-19 patients and 128 were detected through screening of active clusters in the state. ....
