CONCORD, N.C. (News Release) – After more than a year-long delay due to COVID-19, it will have been 579 days since the NHRA’s top drivers last visited zMAX Dragway when they fire up their 11,000-horsepower engines on Friday, for the first of three days of nitro-fueled action at this weekend’s NGK NTK NHRA Four-Wide Nationals. Despite the layoff, there is no shortage of intriguing storylines to watch as fans head back to the Bellagio of drag strips.

Brown regarded his final-round duel against fellow three-time champions and best friend Steve Torrence as a heavyweight slugfest à la the Hollywood one from Sylvester Stallone’s
Rocky film. “That’s Rocky Balboa right there (referencing Torrence) and I’m Apollo (Creed). To get this win, it was truly remarkable. We just built on it every, every lap. Any time you can do this and get one of these (Wally trophies), it’s just so special.”

What makes it worse is that the best racing series in the world could be so much better if the people in charge could just bring themselves to make the changes that are necessary.
